Merry Christmas! As a gift to myself, I decided to see how healthy (or unhealthy) my engine is. This will inform what we will need to do in the future to fix any problems that we find. I’m going to do that by performing a compression test on my engine cylinders.
A compression test measures how much pressure there is in each cylinder on your car. If a cylinder doesn’t have the amount of pressure that it should, that could mean lots of different things could be wrong and we will need to figure out what needs to be fixed. I had to take out each spark plug and replace it with a pressure gauge to do the test. I did that with each cylinder on my straight six as my dad started the car. This car passed with flying colors!
It seems that I have a very good engine. This is a great place to start! It’s crazy how well this engine has held up after more than 50 years!
